5 Reasons Your Teeth Might Hurt

Composite fillings are the same colour as your natural teeth. This type of filling blends in more naturally with your teeth in contrast to traditional silver amalgam fillings.
When you visit us for a dental hygiene exam, our dentists will check your fillings and may suggest that you replace any loose or broken ones. Your dentist will also look for signs of decay, such as brown or black spots, and may want to use X-rays to see between your teeth.
To place this filling, your dentist will remove any signs of decay from the inside of your tooth. They will then use a glue or bonding material on the inside of the hole for the filling to adhere to.
Next, tooth-coloured composite resin is placed into the hole in thin layers. Each layer gets hardened with the help of a special light that is held over your tooth.
When the last layer of the filling is hard, your dentist will mold the filling to match the natural cusps of your teeth so that your filling looks and feels natural when you bite down and chew.
Most patients will not notice anything different after the filling is placed. You will be able to eat and drink normally once the local anaesthetic has worn off.
